Town and Country II

Another batch of pictures from our recent trip.   These were all taken by Olivia.

Adalia was a happy traveler for the most part.

For some reason this was Levi's favorite place, the lawn at the Museum of Appalachia.

Tadpole trough and barrel.

A very old piece of timed equipment at the museum.

Examples of mid-century Appalachian pantry wares..

Appalachian turkey.

Emily and if look closely, Ivey's fingers.

The former home of the squirrel exhibit.

The mountains of Northeastern Tennessee.

To the traffic of Cincinnati.
This is "the hill", which is infamous here.  It's actually I-75 on the Kentucky side of the river.  It used to be even worse before they took the sidewinding curves out and straightened the descent out some.  They used to call it the bobsled.  But you hardly ever get that fast anymore.

An old German church in Covington Kentucky.

Mike and his baby brother.

Morning at the diner.

Ella discovers the frothiness of chocolate milk.

And Gabriel discovers the fun of revolving doors.

Cincinnati City Hall.

Levi wanting to see the turtles at the Creation Museum very badly.

Gabe in his element.

Levi giving his mother fits.

Adalia in her element.

There had been torrential rains the day before we got to Northern Ohio.  All of the creeks and ponds were overflowing.

The Inland Seas Museum at the Great Lakes Historical Society in Vermilion Ohio.  They have the most extensive collection of Great Lakes history in the country.  This was my Dad's favorite museum and he never missed an opportunity to go there.
Unfortunatley, they will be moving the entire museum to Toledo in 2012.

This is in the wheelhouse exhibit, which is an entire wheelhouse taken directly from a great lakes ore freighter.
